Day 2 of Daniels Diet

Good morning,

Most people find day 2-4 the hardest. This is because your body has been used to eating filling foods like bread, meat, dairy etc. Now you are not eating them - your body has to go through a couple of days of withdrawals and  to adjust, this is when you often crave certain foods and can feel hungry.
However if you push through this time you will find it easier, your tummy starts to shrink in size and you don't need so much food to feel satisfied. This means you will be able to fit into your clothes better. One of the best everyday health tips i can give you is to eat less quantity wise and include better quality food - you will live longer and healthier.

Also some people may get more emotionally sensitive and even  irritable during the first few days of Daniels Diet (partial fast). This will pass.
if you are having extreme sugar cravings and feeling very weak physically - this indicate sugar is a major issue in your life and now is the time to overcome this issue. Make sure you are eating regularly and add some dried fruit and vegetable protein to help. If you get too weak and are feeling faint you may have to do a modified Daniels Diet i.e. you stay on Daniels Diet but include small  amounts of protein like eggs and fish. Work hard on giving up sugar  and it wont be long before you can complete Daniels diet properly.

Good Proteins are very much a part of this Health Plan

Vegetable Protein is found in legumes and pulses, brown rice, almonds, pistachios, walnuts, Brazil nuts, split peas, chickpeas, lentils, seeds and the bean family and tofu (which is why I have included tofu recipes for you).
One or more of these proteins should be included in every main meal.

My Day Plan.
  • 40 minute bike ride around the swan river.  I enjoy this exercise and doing Pilate type stretching and walking and swimming; i suggest you find what exercise you you enjoy and do that.  Weight bearing or resistance exercise is necessary for weight loss and toning your body.If you are feeling weak on the diet - don't exercise - other than general walking. Listen to your body, if it feels good then do whatever exercise you want - if struggling don't.
  • I am going to the Farmers market (see instagram) to stock up on organic foods

Breaky;  - i have already had my fibre blend drink
Veggie juice
Fruits
Lunch Mixed Salads
Afternoon teas - green tea and mixed nuts
fruit if i feel hungry or need to boost my blood sugar.
Dinner - casserole vegetables

Constipation: it is very important to be using your bowel at least once or twice daily. if your bowel is slowing down, include Psyllium husks. Prunes soaked in lemon juice is worth a try. if you are not moving your bowel daily after this - then a natural laxative of magnesium oxide is necessary (more information is in the Daniels Diet book)

Protein is important - and tofu, tempeh and lentils  are good protein

This is a Recipe from my Pure and Real Recipe Guide book

½ packet sprouted lentils OR ¼ cup raw lentils
8-12 spinach leaves
1 cup carrot
½ cup sweet potato
¼ brown onion
¼ teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon dried herbs
1.5 cups of water
clove of garlic
If using raw lentils, place in a large pot of water and cook uncovered for 1 hour. Rinse and drain well.
In another saucepan add the water, onion, herbs, cumin, carrots, and sweet potato. Simmer for 10 – 15 minutes.  Then add the cooked or raw lentils at this time.  Gently tear the spinach leaves into bite size pieces and stir through the soup.  Carefully place in blender or food processor and blend well prior to serving with a salad of your choice

The group (and everyone is invited) will be chatting and sharing and supporting each other on my facebook and Instagram. This way you will find doing the diet easier and fun and have any questions answered, recipes shared and help offered and suggestions for what to eat and all the positive things that are happening.  My Facebook link so that you can be involved with the group discussions. https://www.facebook.com/danielsdetox?ref=hl also we are in Instagram follow http://instagram.com/danielsdiettransformation

Lets start Day one with a Biblical declaration.
Matthew 18 v 19. ' Again i say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven'.

So not only am i agreeing in prayer with you but lets all do it for each other and that adds even more support in prayer. So what ever it is you are aiming for; weight loss, detox, healing for any illness or disease, give up smoking, alcohol, chocy ....Whatever it is in line with wisdom - i (we) agree that by the end of the 10 days, your individual  prayers will be answered. In other words - why not make this a partial fast unto the Lord and this in itself separates this diet from most all others - It has the God Factor and it shows by all the wonderful testimonies i receive.

First; Weigh your self and measure your tummy - make sure you measure the exact same spot each time. You only measure and weigh at the start and end or the diet. Write it down.

Encouragement Prizes
Prize One- for the best testimony. My EBook on The 6 Week Low Carb diet
Prize Two - for the person who loses the most weight. My EBook on Daniels Diet Recipes (currently Pre-Print Value for $25.00)

My Personal Day one Plan
What i have intended this morning and plan for the rest of the day;
  • 30 minute prayer walk - 1/2 lemon in water followed by a mixed veggie juice.
  •  Writing this blog.
  • Mid morning i will have fruit
  • Lunch a large mixed salad
  • Afternoon nuts and seeds and another Veggie juice.
  • Dinner steamed veggies and brown rice
  • 2 liters of water during the day

Especially for those in a cold climate try the recipe below from my new Daniels Diet Recipe Guide.

1.  Millet Porridge

Ingredients
1 cup hulled millet
3 cups water
Berries to taste
½ banana or any fruit you prefer (low GI)
Add some pumpkin seeds.

Millet is a grain that is gluten-free. It is alkaline and easy to digest and as a bonus has good protein content. Eat 2/3 of a small breakfast bowl per meal.

Preparation Method

Boil the water then add the millet. Simmer for 15-20 minutes or until millet is soft. It forms a mucilaginous texture when cooked which act as an intestinal lubricant and benefits your ‘tummy’.
If it becomes too ‘gluggy’, strain it under running water.

Morning or afternoon tea :

DIPS
Great to have with sliced carrot, beans, celery and zucchini. This is a good idea if entertaining or socializing.

2.. Ground Chick Pea Dip
Ingredients
125 g dried chick peas 80g toasted sesame seeds
4 tbsp chopped oregano, basil, or other herbs in season 1-2 cloves garlic
2 cups veggie stock 1 tbsp lime juice
3 tbsp red onion, chopped 1 tsp Dijon mustard
pinch sea salt

Preparation Method
Grind the chick peas in a blender to a powder like cornmeal. Cook in the boiling stock for about 10 minutes, constantly stirring. Let cool, and mix with the rest of the ingredients. Serve as a dip with baby carrots, beans, celery and zucchini

You can get extra information and support on facebook page and instagram with the other people doing the diet. see links above.

Are you ready - One day to Daniels Diet

Shopping Hints

 Preparation for Daniels Diet.

Step One: I am excited - and mentally prepared - so i trust you are too.
Step Two:  Shopping and hands on preparation
Step Three - Do it

Daniel 1 v 8 (NASB) ' but Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the Kings choice of food or with wine.."

I have just got back from shopping - in preparation for tomorrow

Here are some shopping tips:
  1. I buy already prepared salads e.g - pk of the following; baby spinach + mixed lettuce + Asian salad (stir fry ) mix + sprouts etc.
  2. Vegetables; sweet potatoe, pumpkin, cellery, red beets (beetroot), carrots, brocolli, beans, spinach, bok choy, ( think green...) etc etc
  3. mixed fruits in season - here in Western Australia - it is summer so Water melon/rock melon, apples, bananas, stone fruit (although these are high GI) so if thinking of weight loss you should not have too many of them and stick to low GI fruits.
  4. Seasonings - the following are extracts from my new book - 'Pure & Real Recipe Guide'
    Capers
Celtic sea salt or Himalayan rock salt
    Crushed Garlic
    Crushed ginger
    Green curry paste
    Miso (Kome or Genmal)
Organic Tamari Soy Sauce (all natural, all purpose, wheat free soy
           sauce)
Organic Herb Seasoning – e.g. Vogel “Herbamare”
    Vegetable Stock
Soup Stock – no MSG, additive free stock powder (Vogel vegetable)
    Massel veggie stock
  5. If you need help sourcing anything– go to your nearest health store, they will give you assistance.
  6. Dried herbs and spices
    Bay leaves
    Cayenne (red) pepper
    Chia
    Chili powder
    Cinnamon sticks
    Cloves
    Cumin
    Curry powder
    Dried Herbs
    Garlic
    Ground cinnamon
    Ground coriander
    Ground or fresh ginger
    Ground nutmeg
    Masala
    Marjoram
    Mustard Powder
    Onion
    Paprika
    Peppercorns green and black
    Sesame Seeds
    Turmeric
  7. Oils and vinegarsApple Cider Vinegar
    Balsamic Vinegar
    Extra Virgin Olive Oil
White Vinegar (to wash your fruit and vegetables)
  8. Nuts (unsalted) and dried fruit
    Almonds (blanched or whole)
    Hazelnuts
    Pecans
    Pine nuts
    Prunes
    Sun-dried tomatoes
    Walnuts
    Brazil
    Cashews
  9. Dried fruit often contains sulphur to enhance the color of the dried product.  Seek organic sun-dried fruit, which is also sulphur- free. This is especially important if you experience any respiratory challenges such as asthma.
    No peanuts.
  10. Stir-fry
  11. You’ll find a wonderful selection of frozen stir-fry vegetable mixes in the freezer section of your local supermarket. Make sure you choose the ones with no added sauces. The store will also have bags of prepared raw stir-fry vegetables in the fresh food section, add more colours yourself if needed. Choose fresh foods where possible, however frozen are good as a second choice and for convenience. To avoid plastic contamination, I recommend you mix your own from the loose choices available, i.e. bag up your own.

Feel free to use variety and what is in season in your locality is best, also what you personaly prefer to have. Organic is best but not vital, just do the best you can, its all good.

All the best and talk to you tomorrow

Do you want to lose weight and Detox your system? with Daniels Diet

Starting times for 'Group Daniel's Diet'

  •  We start Daniels Diet this Friday (the 17th).  The reason for staring Friday is that if anyone is not used to detoxing or if you have overindulged over the Christmas break - then the worst days for withdrawals from harmful foods is usually the first 3. This way you have the weekend to rest up and concentrate on the program. By Monday you should be feeling awesome and you will cope with work better.
  • I know from 25 years of experience that success is multiplied many times if you not only commit to a plan, but write down your goals before hand. Also by being answerable to someone - whether that is me or the group of family its up to you - but definitely tell someone and if you can get them to do it with you.

OUR PREPARATION DAY
  1. Preparation start day - Monday or Tuesday the 13th -14th - is the beginning of your preparation for the 10 days. This is when you stop the foods that hurt most on detoxing e.g. caffeine, sugar, refined carbs, soft drinks, alcohol. Make up your mind what you really want to achieve from going on this diet. Write down these goals then resolve in your heart and mind to complete the ten days. It’s vital that you mentally prepare and desire to do the diet and that you anticipate the rewards you’ll obtain by finishing it.Be determined to overcome the doubts, fears and former negative thinking that your mind may cast up to stop you getting to where you want to be.
  2. Overcoming mind battles is the biggest key to success. Note that even Daniel, to complete the ten days, had to set his mind to resist peer pressure, hunger pangs, temptation, and doubts. If you become determined in your mind and heart then succeeding becomes a probability not a possibility.
  3. Start preparing your mind, let nothing stop you, fight any negative thinking or emotional blocks. The group will support you and help you and there is no condemnation for any one that stumbles on the way, only love and support and encouragement.
  4. “But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the King’s choice of food or with wine ...” (Daniel 1:8 NASB)
Congratulations to those who already answered the challenge be emailing me philip@wisdomforhealth.net to show their commitment and to join the support group. This is still open until next Saturday so what are you waiting for, email me now?  Everyone who emails me to show they are serious and want to do the diet will receive additional information, recipes and help from me via emails, and can contact me personally if they have any queries
Its time to commit and set the plan into action.

Happy new year & I pray that you prosper in all things and be in health...

Daniels Diet! The Pure and Real Diet Plan
Join us and make being healthy fun and your normal lifestyle
  • I will be personally coaching you throughout the 10 days on this blog site.
  • Join me and others in starting on a set day and finishing 10 days later
  • Do you want to be healthy? If you are interested in being an active part of this 10 day plan - commitment is the first step. Email me now on philip@wisdomforhealth.net and simply let me know.

Personal Goals - write them down - commit to them
Success means a commitment to a specific plan and setting your goals.
Setting your goals is the first step to success.Goals provide you with the focus needed to achieve what you desire, and creates the motivation and will power to fulfil the goals that you set.In fact, the single most important factor in a diet or weight loss program is having committed goals. Studies indicate that people who write down their goals succeed in achieving them over 50 percent more than those who don’t write down goals.

Make your goals specific. Goals like ' I wanna lose weight'. 'i am going to lose weight this year (sometime)', aren't specific enough for your subconscious mind to home in on.

  • I will announce the starting date Soon - be Ready - ' set you mind' like Daniel did in Daniels Ch. 1.

Do you want to?
·        Lose weight the healthy way
·        Stop craving sugar and carbs
·        Overcome emotional eating
·        Regain energy & make the most out of your life
·        Remain healthy
·        Keep the weight off
·        Break the cycle of illness
·        Make the most out of your life

Have you been looking for a Diet and Lifestyle Plan that you can Trust and is the Best Diet for you? This refreshing New but ‘Ancient’ diet unveils health and weight loss secrets dating back 2000 years.

I can confidently and unequivocally state that this diet plan works – WHY? Because not only has it worked in the Bible but today I have thousands of success testimonies which prove it.

It is based on both Ancient Dietary Principles; As Revealed in the Old Testament book of Daniel (Daniels Diet) and Modern Nutrition (Philip’s 25 years in Clinical Practice). The Pure and Real Diet is a 10 day vegetarian (and vegan) healthy eating plan. You eat only pure nutritional food grown fresh from God’s Garden; to gain energy, vitality, weight loss and to detox your body.

This health plan is a straight forward, short term program designed to help you lose weight, gently detox your body and regain your energy and improve your health. This Diet bridges the gap between The Bible, Hippocrates (called the Father of Western Medicine) and Today.

·       The program is short term making the 10 day goal easy to commit to.
·       You will be eating 5 times a day, meaning no desperate hunger pains.
·       It is a gentle Detox, keeping in mind that toxicity is one driver of obesity.
·       It is predominantly an alkaline diet (high acid levels are another factor in blocking weight loss).
·       This diet is a Vegan Diet. Vegan means you eat NO animal product at all, including no eggs, milk and cheese.  It is also a Gluten Free diet.

Success Stories

1. Daniel (2,500 years ago);
In the Biblical book of Daniel; chapter 1:15-16, the Bible says, “Well, at the end of the ten days, Daniel and his three friends looked healthier and better nourished than the youths who had been eating the food supplied by the king! So, after that the steward fed them only vegetables and water, without the rich foods and wines!” (TLB)
Daniel had just proven how amazingly powerful this 10-day cleansing diet really was.

2. ‘I lost 10kg in 10 days! Philip’s diet really does work!’ Ps Alan Anderson

3. Thanks Philip – This Diet not only changed my life but probably saved it. I was obese, had very low self image, and in hospital the doctors were worried for my immediate health. Now things are so different; I have followed your 10 day diet three times in the last 2 months, (In between the 10 days I have followed your low carb’ diet.) Praise God, I have lost 22 lbs or 10 Kilos every time I did the 10 days (66 lbs or 30 kg in total). I am out of the danger zone and no longer need to go to the hospital. My confidence is returning and I have so much more energy, sleeping much better at night (had sleep apnoea) … (See the progression of Karen’s testimony on my YouTube interview – see link above). Karen M.

4. Dear Philip - I am very happy with my weight loss on your diet. I have lost at least 17 and half pounds (8 kilos) in 10 days on your 10 day Diet Plan. That's unprecedented! My clothes are feeling looser and I am so excited because I now know I can live without soft drink, biscuits/slices/cakes and bread every day. Belinda

5. Dear Philip, I am writing from USA to thank you for changing my life! I followed your diet as you advised wanting to "lose weight quickly before Christmas". I "did" the diet and lost quite a few inches (centimetres) and I have lost 11 pounds (5kg) all up and fit into all my old clothes. Latysha.

6. I lost 49 pounds (22 kg) and that’s not all “By following the 10 day diet plan and then continuing on with your low Carb’ diet (‘A 6 Week Low Carb Diet’). I have lost 49 pounds over 3 months. Not only that but my Doctor has reduced my blood pressure medication by three quarters and my cholesterol has come down from 6.5 to 4. MONICA:

THE SECRETS TO SURVIVING THE FESTIVE SEASON

THE SECRETS TO SURVIVING THE FESTIVE SEASON WITH YOUR HEALTH INTACT!

OVER THE CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR PERIOD WE PUT ON AN AVERAGE OF 4 KG (or more) OF FAT PER PERSON.

You don't have to be a partner in this statistic! This year, choose to adopt healthier lifestyle habits DURING the Festive Season! You may not lose much weight - but you don't need to gain any. And, when the New Year arrives, you will already be on the right track toward your best body ever in 2012!

Going into the festive season it will help to mentally prepare and make decisions beforehand. Why wait to new years day to make commitments – by then you are 3 or 4 kg heavier. Think and believe you can eat, enjoy and feel better by eating and drinking in moderation. Visualize yourself fit and feeling great. If it's to look better, imagine yourself confident and wearing the dress that you always wanted to fit into.

As part of your motivation – remember what it feels like after overeating (and drinking) the feeling of a bloated tummy and being overfull and uncomfortable. Drinking lots of liquid with food waters down your digestion so you not only feel uncomfortable but this causes tummy issues as well.

Tips to avoid the festive weight -gain

· Eat before you go to your Lunch or Dinner so you won't be so hungry that you grab anything and everything. This stops your blood sugar from dropping and you then can have control over your hunger. You can still enjoy the meal but you will be in control. I suggest something light e.g. Celery and carrots dipped in hummus or avocado dip. A protein shake or rice crackers with tomato and a small slice of low fat cheese can give you the willpower you need to choose the best choices of food on offer and not to overeat. Having a light, low carbohydrate breakfast and lunch on the same day can help ensure that your calorie intake won't be too much. Another option, eat a banana on the way to the meal!

  • You will have choices – so choose the healthiest ones. If you happen to be the one to organize the venue, or are entertaining at home– choose the option that offers good healthy choices. I suggest trying soups (no cream), grilled or baked fish with vegetables or salad, and fruit salad for sweets (always avoiding the cream). Instead of a bowl of lollies, cakes, chips or chocolates for guests, why not have a bowl of strawberries (with coconut cream), cherries or grapes? For drinks; try a bottle of non– alcoholic grape juice. If you drink alcoholic wine choose an organic wine, as it has less chemicals and will be better for you.
  • Rule of thumb – choose proteins like meat instead of sweets, breads, pasta. Best meats are fish, turkey, and chicken. Have these with salads and vegetables - Char grilled vegetables are delicious ~ a platter of mixed grilled vegetables look great and can be done on the BBQ.
  •    Alcohol and soft drinks will add weight to your body. Both are high GI and soft drinks   have about 7 teaspoons of sugar per can.
  •    Use a smaller plate
  • Don't keep picking at leftovers – take some home for the next day may help?
  • Be the life of the party and socialize – talk – dance and keep away from the food and    burn up some energy = fat.

The Hangover ‘Cure’?!

If you choose to drink – then at least have some understanding on what you are doing to your body. I suggest you put into place some really good counter measures, to help your body survive and to save some of those brain cells.

  • The one true way to avoid a hangover is to avoid or limit the amount alcohol you consume.
  • The ethanol contained in alcoholic has a dehydrating effect which causes headaches, dry mouth and tiredness. Internally this puts pressure on your kidneys and liver.

  • This chemical reactions along with additives and preservatives in alcohol drinks do affect your body in short and long term. There are organic wines that are a healthier alternative and will lessen the hangover symptoms. One reaction is that the liver’s ability to supply glucose to tissues is interfered with, in particular to the brain. Glucose is responsible for the brain’s energy and this disruption often results in fatigue, headaches, feeling weak, mood changes and memory and concentration.

  • Smokers and even some non-smokers tend to smoke more when they are drinking and this can lead to nicotine poisoning which will also worsen hangovers.
  • The more you drink in a short time span, the worse your hangover will be. Binge drinking is particularly harmful to your health and likely to result in severe hangover.

The Counter Measures for Preventing Hangovers!

  1. Preparation – before and during your drinking is the best time to help. If you do this then the hangover will be definitely less. A young naturopath colleague who admits to indulging in wine on occasions says “I guarantee the preparation will stop most hangovers”.
  2. Take a Liver herb 2-3 days before and before you go out and when you arrive home. You can buy liver herbal tonics containing St. Mary Thistle (Silymarin).
  3. Drink Lots of water.  Rule of thumb when drinking alcohol and coffee is to consume one glass of water after every glass or cup you drink. If you add a ½ squeezed lemon to the water or green tea – this will help you maintain some alkalinity to your stomach and aid your detox.
  1. When your stomach is empty, alcohol is absorbed more quickly, which intensifies its effects. Eating a plentiful dinner that includes meat, vegetables and fruits, is very wise.
  2. An electrolyte drink will help before and after as your minerals will be depleted. I prefer a powder form from health shops or naturopath to be the strongest dosages therefore the best. However the Gatorade type drinks are helpful.
  3. Take a B vitamin and vitamin C
  4. Avoid coffee before – during and after as this dehydrates you more.
  5. Caution - given the dehydration and associated increase in blood pressure after a "night out", a strenuous workout isn't generally the recommended "recovery" practice. However a lazy swim or walk is beneficial.  As is sleeping in.

After The Party Is Over.

January is the time for the Daniels diet Detox
join me in doing this - i will be posting a Day by Day support
see you in the new year (God willing)

HO HO HO - Laughter is like a Medicine

Merry Christmas

It is Christmas time and we often hear Father Christmas saying 'Ho HO HO'....
Let me tell you something very interesting about laughing and being happy. Laughter stimulate our immune system, boosts our serotonin (feel good hormone). and is very good for our health.

I love it when modern Science proves the Bible is right.
The Bible says;

A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones. Proverbs 17:21-22
Do not be sad for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:9-11

A well known researcher in this area of “the science of happiness” was Norman Cousins, who in 1964 was diagnosed with a life-threatening autoimmune disease. After being given a one in 500 chance of recovery, Cousins created his own laughter therapy program, which he claims was the key to his ultimate recovery.
Cousins founded the Cousins Center for Psychoneuroimmunology and his book, Anatomy of an Illness, was made into a TV movie in 1984

Your Brain Is Connected to Your Immune System

According to studies done in the 1980s and early 1990s - it revealed that your immune system and brain are actually wired together:

“Portions of the nervous system connect with immune-related organs such as the thymus and bone marrow, and immune cells have receptors for neurotransmitters, suggesting that there is crosstalk.”
On the other hand the Bible is also proven right when it tells us; 'But a broken spirit dries the bones. Proverbs 17:21-22'

The evidence that stress, worry and anxiety is very harmful to your health is undisputed.
The bible teaches and encourages us to 'Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  Philippians 4: 5-7)

[ Do Not Worry ] “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? ... Mathew 6:24-34

There are many studies supporting the belief that people with an upbeat and positive perspective tend to be healthier and enjoy longer lives. Those people who have the tendency to always expect the worst was linked to a 25 percent higher risk of dying before the age of 65 (2). You would say these people have anxiety and stress issues.

  • I also believe that factors such as diet and exercise can play a significant role. It’s hard to feel happy when you’re not feeling well physically.
  • It reminds me of one of my old Bob Marley songs - 'Don't worry be happy'

My Christmas tip is to have more Ho Ho HO and be Happy, don't worry or stress. Enjoy Christmas for what it is; the Birth of our Savior - the Lord Jesus Christ. Now that is something to be happy about.

If you are worried about getting too thin this Christmas AVOID the salad tray: In fact, if you see any salad, go straight to the Christmas pudding.

They are sure to fatten you up. Ho Ho Ho ( once a year attempt of humour)

Merry Christmas
